In March of 2024 I went to my first Louisiana Homeschool Conference. I learned about tons of resources that I had no idea existed. I was fueled and refreshed and encouraged and completely motivated about our decision 4 years ago to homeschool our kids.
Homeschooling is no walk in the park, but it’s so much easier than people think it is. But regardless of how your children receive education…..
Lesson #1 - YOU are your kids' curriculum. They are watching YOU, copying YOU, and seeing if YOU’RE real with them, and they know instantly when you’re putting on a front. They see right through you more than you even realize. And when you’re not real, they lose trust in you. Your kids are a reflection of YOU. No one can ever convince me otherwise.
To anyone who has kids still living at home, this book is a MUST-READ! I can’t put it down. This is one of the things I picked up at the conference. It’s filled with so many nuggets of information regardless of what stage of life your kids are in.
Our relationship with our kids is crucial. I personally use to always put my kids second. Six years ago I when I made a career change, I finally started to put my family and kids first, and it has completely transformed our family dynamic. And since we’ve been homeschooling, it only keeps getting better.
Whether you homeschool your kids or not, this book has nothing to do with the type of education your kids have. It’s all about raising respectful kids in a disrespectful world. We can ALL learn more about navigating this world together with our kids; it’s still possible for kids to be respectful despite what the world tries to convince us of.
